As a photographer's wife, Randi is used to being one of my most photographed subjects. Earlier this year it dawned on me, though. I had never really done a 'real' photoshoot with her. All my photographs of her have been snapshots and impromptu portraits. I wanted to give her the photoshoot of a lifetime. I wanted to go all out and do it right. For months we threw around ideas and brainstormed. Randi has always been drawn to the 1920's era style so we started with that, and ended with a slightly more 'modern' 1930's/40's Hollywood glam look. As an actor this seemed a natural fit for her, and indeed she completely embodied the look! We had a blast and our daughter Evelyn even participated a little, wearing my late grandmother's vintage baby dress from the 1930's! To recreate the classic look as closely as I could, I used lighting that was common during the era and shot the whole session on film, developed and scanned myself. Special thanks to our good friend Jenny helped us with costumes and makeup and also provided the location for us.
